Oscar Wilde's first published short story, The Canterville Ghost is a comical tale of an English ghost and an American family who buy his home. It has been adapted for stage and screen many times over the years, including a 1944 adaptation set during World War II and starring Charles Laughton and a 1974 made-for-television dramatization featuring David Niven as the ghost. This version is illustrated by Wallace Goldsmith.
