The Waffle-Making Robot
Check out the MacBreak weekly podcast where, in episode number 68, Andy Ihnatko explains the Kindle's appeal by likening it to a waffle-making robot. Very entertaining, as are all their shows.

New Poll on Kindle & Gift Certificates
I was disappointed to learn that you seemingly cannot use Amazon gift certificates to purchase books from the Kindle Store. Bummer! I've been asking all and sundry to give me Amazon gift certificates for Christmas for just that purpose. Am I alone in this?
If you have a minute, please answer the poll question at the bottom of this page and let me know how you feel about this. Thanks for your input.

Kindle Reviews
There are now over 800 "reviews" of the Kindle on Amazon, most written by people who do not own one. For some laughs, search in the review section for the one titled "I pulled this review out of thin air."
Among some of the positives this tongue-in-cheek reviewer enumerates is that "...if the Kindle store does not have a book you want, Jeff Bezos will personally type that book into a computer and make it available. He will also do this for the hard copy books you already own and do not want to repurchase in the Kindle format. Jeff will also personally convert your vinyl record collection into DRM-free digital tracks..."
From his mouth to God's ears.

Kindle Wish List
It looks like you cannot yet put Kindle books on your wishlist. I hope Amazon fixes this problem soon. It would also be nice if others could purchase Kindle books for you as gifts. In the meantime I'm going to keep a wish list here (see list below).
Hey Mr. Postman!
I don't actually have a Kindle in hand yet. Mine is on order but hasn't shipped yet. Once your Kindle arrives, the all-important question is: "What's available in the Kindle library?"
This will give Amazon critics a marvelous opportunity to complain that their favorite authors are indeed not available on the device. In fact I think I'll start complaining right now. Neither J. K. Rowling nor Jonathan Strout are represented yet in the Kindle library.
I would love to have The Amulet of Samarkand, Golem's Eye and Ptolemy's Gate in Kindle format along with all the Harry Potter books.
